T.A.P. Into Wellness

You might be hearing a lot about wellness these days. What does it mean to you? Do you feel like you are part of the movement? Or do you wonder what all the fuss is about? 

Regardless of how you answer these questions, there’s always opportunity to explore, learn and dig deeper into this idea of wellness. 

During our 3 days together we will T.A.P. into different TOPICS of wellness, put our bodies and minds into ACTION through yoga, mindful movement and meditations, and PRACTICE off our mats to really allow the ideas and information to sink in and gel.

Itinerary 

Each day we’ll gather for time together to move, breath, share, and just be. The TAP classes offer movement and relaxation, and of course opportunities to practice the topic after class. You’ll want to make the most of your time on retreat to really let the content sink in and make it stick! So there’s time for that…we want it to really gel. 

Here’s what a class looks like:

T – Topic/Theme: Our Yoga practice and mindfulness exercises/meditations are designed around each topic so we can explore the topics by connecting our bodies’ movements to our minds’ ideas of that topic.

A – Action: It’s no secret that movement is key to our well-being and is an important part of TAPping into overall wellness. We’ll explore movement through yoga and moving meditations. But Action is also about taking action to be more still, and I bet this is where many of us fall short. So ya, we’ll pause and breathe in our classes too (in other words, there’s savasana, don’t worry!)

P – Practice: You know what they say…Practice makes perfect and wellness is no different. Once you leave your mat, make time do the work; to fill out some of the worksheets, read an article, sit in stillness just a minute or two longer…whatever it is you want to work on, there’s time and support for that. 

So what?

Finding time to work on your health in all its forms (physical, mental and emotional) is vital to your health, happiness and even your relationships. When you’re happy and engaged your relationships thrive.

In addition to the TAP classes there will be other opportunity to practice yoga, journal, talk, reflect, walk, play, be alone or be social as needed. Nothing is mandatory except to just be. 

What Else Do You Need to Know?

 Sugar Ridge Retreat Centre prides themselves on the experience of their guests. Offering a rustic experience with extra comfortable beds and delicious foods! A beautiful Yoga space with windows over looking natures finest offerings, all Yoga props provided.

Each cabin is nestled in the woods surrounding the retreat centre offering privacy while at the same time being close to the main centre. Each cabin has 4 beds; either 4 twin beds or one double and 3 twin beds. Washroom facilities are located in the main retreat centre, less than a minute walk from any cabin. Washrooms have private and spacious showers. Two cabins and the main centre are wheelchair accessible. Please bring your own towel for showering.

Every meal is created with love using whole foods, as organic as possible and always plant based. All food sensitivities and allergies can be accommodated. Please let us know upon registration.

Retreat Leader: Stacey Boorman

Stacey graduated with a Bachelor of Kinesiology from McMaster University. Over many years, various forms of vigorous exercise and a life changing injury, she found yoga. When she wanted to dive deeper into her yoga practice, to move beyond asanas, she met with her yoga mentor-to-be and told her about the decision to start her YTT with YogaFit Canada. She was supportive and thrilled and said the following that has been the single biggest moment of a-ha for Stacey around this decision: Well, you studied human movement in university, you felt a desire to teach/train in your corporate career, and you love yoga. You’ve come full circle and can put it all together by becoming a yoga teacher. Exactly.
