A Journey to Self
Immerse your Self in the lush tropics of Costa Rica. Located in the mountains near Palmar Sur, a short hike to beaches, waterfalls and the jungle. This ultimate Yogi vacation is an opportunity to deepen your yoga practice both on and off the mat with daily meditations, personal reflection time, yoga classes, satsangs (philosophy discussions), excursions and more. One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is time and space. Taking a moment to step away from our day-to-day responsibilities allows us the opportunity to build deeper connections with ourselves, our community (sangha) and the natural world around us. Dedicating quality time to our practice will help to foster personal growth, self-love and healing.
Each day of our retreat will draw us deeper into the theme of nourish and nurture. Building and honouring self-care practices through chakra work, mantra meditation and a range of physical practices from stronger, more athletic practices to the healing practices of Yin and Restorative. Experience with Yoga is not required.

What Else Do You Need to Know?
Flights are to arrive into the San Jose SJO airport. As the retreat centre is nestled away from the touristy areas you must either fly, take a bus or rent a car to get to there. It is a 5-hour drive or a 35-minute domestic flight, to which you’ll leave in the morning of February 25th. The retreat starts on February 25th approx. 4pm so you will most likely need to fly in to San Jose on February 24th and spend one night at a hotel. We are happy to help you with room share, please email us: firstname.lastname@example.org On the way home, we leave the centre at 7am so you can fly home on March 3rd from SJO after 12pm.
This is a “glamping” style of retreat. A little more rugged but with comfy beds and very clean bathrooms and hot showers. A double-prong outlet in each room and just enough Wifi to keep you connected to home.
We begin each day with 7am meditation surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. Check out the video below! Breakfast follows at 8am with free time until 10am. Most days we will begin Satsang (group discussion) and Yoga Practice from 10-12pm. A few exceptions are provided below along with daily focus. The afternoons are ours to explore the many sights of the area including: private and local beaches, short hike to waterfalls, archaeological site, zip lining (not included in retreat price $70 USD) and more. Most evenings are for relaxing and free time – we are on vacation after all! Please note, daily events subject to change and nothing on the itinerary is mandatory by you. We follow the time clock of the jungle, lights out by 10pm and the monkeys will become your alarm clock in the am (you are welcome to press snooze). This is also a dry centre: no alcohol or smoking on the premises please. There will also be the opportunity for Thai Yoga Massage or Reiki Sessions throughout the week for an additional fee. All meals are vegetarian prepared with local ingredients. We are happy to work with any dietary concerns, just let us know.
Day 1 – Root Chakra
We arrive at the centre approximately 12pm. After lunch and a couple hours to get settled and tour the centre we will enjoy an invigorating Yoga practice designed to ground our energy and stretch out our muscles from a long day of travel. The root chakra is all about grounding and safety, so day 1 is focused on settling in and making ourselves at home.
Day 2 – Sacral Chakra
The element of the sacral chakra is water and what better way to explore this than with a beach day! After a beautiful flowing practice and lunch we will make our way over to the local beach for some fun in the sun and general R+R. There are also some local vendors there for a bit of shopping as well.
Day 3 – Solar Plexus Chakra
This is the chakra of inner strength and power and practice will be a stronger based practice set to the physical skill of the group with options provided. To play on this theme of adventure and breaking down fear, you have the choice for a zip-lining adventure (not included and not mandatory) or stay back at the centre for some quiet time just for you. The evening will be our fire ceremony, letting go of what no longer serves us and setting our intentions.
Day 4 – Heart Chakra
Once again, the best way to celebrate the heart chakra is on the beach. On Day 4 we head a little further out to the most picturesque and massive private beach around. Check out the photos in the slide show above. We will leave shortly after breakfast and enjoy Yoga on the beach before the sun is too hot. The rest of the day is yours to explore or sit back and cherish the stillness of the space.
Day 5 – Throat Chakra
Today is the day of sound and self-expression. We will have an afternoon playing in the waterfalls enjoying nature’s natural playlist. Only a 10-minute hike to a pretty phenomenal space giving us extra down time at the centre for inner reflection, reading or journaling. We will also have an evening of sound for Yoga music and mantras.
Day 6 Third Eye and Crown Chakra
Our last day is all about reflection and connecting within. We will share a group meditation and intention setting at an ancient archeological site. Practice will also be more meditative in a combo of Yin (long held stretches) and Restore (longer held relaxing poses) Lisa’s signature class, consciously closing our retreat in peace and stillness.

Founder of Sangha Wellness Retreats. Lisa holds her E-RYT 500, YACEP and C-IAYT Yoga Therapy. She has a strong passion for fitness, yoga and movement, empowering her students through the practice of yoga and community. 2018 Canadian Presenter of the Year for canfitpro, and Optimyz Magazine’s top 100 Health and Fitness Influencers in Canada 2017-2020, Lisa has been teaching since 2001.
